About the event

Dear Anxiety is a 5 week, online group workshop series grounded in evidence based concepts from Acceptance & Commitment therapy (ACT) to help you live more fully with your own anxious experiences. These approaches will be complimented by creative writing & creative care practices, conversation and a community environment.  This is not therapy, but an opportunity to gain a better understanding of anxiety through practical approaches, creative writing prompts and exercises meant to gently guide participants towards a better understanding of their own personal experience of and with anxiety.  In addition to offering space to explore living as an anxious person in an anxiety-inducing world, we aim to push back against the isolating experience of anxiety by bringing folks with similar experiences together in a shame-free, compassionate space.

Dear Anxiety might be for you if…

You’re drawn to being in community with other folks who know what it’s like to live with anxiety

You have other people and places to process your individual experience of anxiety with

You are drawn to learning about tools to help understand and live with your experiences of anxiety

You’d like to try some accessible gentle movement, breathing and other experiential exercises to explore ways to be with anxiety

Writing is currently a part of your self care, and/or you’d like to explore your experience of and with anxiety through creative writing

You’re open to and comfortable with hearing from other folks who also experience anxiety

Dear Anxiety might not be for you if…

You are struggling with active substance dependence or are new to recovery.

You are currently experiencing active suicidal ideation, intent or had recent attempts (past 6 months).

You are dealing with symptoms of psychosis or dissociation

You are experiencing acute symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.

You have significant symptoms of depression or social anxiety that may interfere with their ability to

attend or participate in a group (e.g. on camera).

Dear Anxiety isn’t therapy! It’s a chance to explore our experiences of anxiety through learning, community conversation, mindfulness tools and creative writing. If you have questions about whether Dear Anxiety is for you, please email Julia Sage, MSW.
